It’s the sense of security that sells them. Too bad it’s mostly a false sense of security.

I really like that BMW one. It’d be cool if modern cars could implement an angled front end like that again. Probably goes against all kinds of pedestrian safety guidelines and aerodynamics though.

But is it green?

As much as I don’t really like the taller profile of the whole thing, I fully agree on the taller roofline in the back. I think it would look better and be more functional. But maybe the efficiency hit was too much?

Anyway, on the point of looks and height, a friend sent me this picture. I think it’s just speculative,

Sure, but I actually put my money where my mouth is and bought a brand new wagon. I represent the small but real demand that’s out there. Also, I said I can appreciate them filling that segment. It’s an obviously popular segment. But I think the rear styling is terrible and the overall styling could look a lot better

I can totally appreciate filling a niche, especially when it’s one as popular as “compact crossover.” I just wish there was less demand for a high driving position and ground clearance that will never be used. Imagine a Tesla Model 3 wagon. Sure it’d sell poorly; but it would probably be a better vehicle, and one I’d

I didn’t say it was bad that he won; it’s great that he won considering he fought it and was in the right. I’m just saying that I hope that I personally have better things to do when I’m his age than find random trolly vanity plates that are restricted and then get into a legal battle over them. Good on him for

This is a case where a dude couldn’t have a vanity plate that says “IM GOD.” I said nothing of whether he was in the wrong or right to feel like he should be able to have that plate (in fact I believe he’s in the right), I simply said that I personally hope that I have better things to do in my retirement than find

I mean, I get that concern. But it is awfully strange to hear so many people here praising this as some great win for freedom of speech. I’m sure it’s fine; but do we all really care that much about people putting VEGAN or IM GOD on their license plates? I don’t. On one hand, Kentucky’s being stupidly restrictive (par

Yeah, it was mostly the “needlessly proving a point” I was getting at, but most people seem to have taken my comment as being anti-freedom of speech. Not so; I was just saying I hope I have better things to do when I’m old than pick pedantic battles over a random freedom of speech thing like that only meant to troll

That is QUITE the statement you just made based on very little information from my original comment. I assure you, I don’t think what you seem to think I think.

I seem to have underestimated how strongly people feel about their right to ridiculous personalized license plates. Let’s agree to disagree on this one, lol.

Lol, sure okay. Standing up for your rights is one thing. Fighting the state over being able to put “IM GOD” on your license plate is just kinda silly.

I hope I have better things to do in my retirement years than start a fight with Kentucky over a personalized plate.

I don’t really love these, but you’d have to have like three times the rust to make an interesting car like this CP at $2500. Definitely NP.

I want to like this, but between the age, mileage, and salvage title, It would have to be more like $10k. Cool build though.

Hi, coupe driver with a kid here. :P

The best mpg I have ever achieved in my ‘96 Grand Prix was 31 at ~75mph over 600 miles. Given that my car shifts into overdrive at about 45mph, using your equation it would achieve 46mpg. Hmm. Not completely unbelievable, but it seems unlikely to work in any real world situation, even if I was trying to hypermile.

My dad passed away 18 years ago, well before time trial ghosts were much of a thing, but his records are still preserved on our copy of F1 ROC 2 on the SNES. Someday I’m sure I’ll turn it on and the internal battery will have died, but for now it’s one of the few ways I can still sort of connect with him.

Why buy an old house when you could build new? Why listen to an album from 10 years ago when there’s a new one out? Why visit the ruins of an ancient castle when there’s a new apartment building down the street?

Character, soul, history, nostalgia, and other intangibles. Most enthusiasts couldn’t care less if the car
