While I know there will be criticism around her writing of this piece— "she's self indulgent! elitist! out of touch! who cares!" etc. etc. I have to say that I didn't know anything about the BRCA1 gene mutation/testing before her first piece. It educated and informed me and my friends. This one educated me as well.

They believe poor women are unworthy of intimacy and have no right to a sex life because how dare they not spend every second of their lives feeling shame at being poor.

We had a few donors who would give us condoms to hand out at the drop in centre. I can't tell you how many volunteers would be shocked - SHOCKED - that we handed them out to whoever asked for them (I'd get most of the teens, and then they'd get a 5 minute sex and safety talk with me, since most were part-time sex

I understand that, and I do think the boxes are a good idea, but far fewer babies would be abandoned if women weren't forced into unwanted pregnancies and births in the first place.

agreed! And maybe that mother tried to abort a fetus, absolutely couldn't because of the crazy shit laws and now has an actual human she'd rather humanely give up. I mean, let's not pretend that with all of the abortion restrictions we will suddenly have more willing parents. We will only have more unwanted infants.

To #2 - this is becoming more and more true as we ramp up the criminalization of mothers and pregnant women all over the country. We'be done a great (awful) job of showing women that we will lock them up and throw away the key for any perceived transgression against the baby or pregnancy. Esp. in conservative states,

I think this post needs a little of this.

Call me an optimist — but maybe this couple wasn't as happy as everyone thinks they were.

oh god, don't die...

Unfortunately, I don't think kitty would die 5 hours later. She'd probably start eating you while you were still warm. I'm a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, I know. But I mean, if kitty dies and you follow suit.. True love, that.

Replace the dude with a cat and this is the story of my life... err, death.

Yeah, I think this is making some of us feel the opposite of what we're "supposed" to feel. Gonna hold my own hand right now …

God... I feel more alone right now than I did on Valentine's Day...

Anyone have some interesting fantastical theories about how and why this went down?

You know how sometimes, after big games, there are campus riots? Even when the home team won? I'm thinking something along those veins.

This should pretty much sum up why things that are stupid become fun/funny really quickly.

Maybe the frat brothers took turn throwing up the sorority girls. It wouldn't be the first time they objectified their bodies.

My thought process exactly but with the addition of "Why?!"

"My sorority ran a soup kitchen for disenfranchised kittens, so..."

In my experience, some rich people are the fucking worse tenants for holiday rentals and most likely to trash your property. They don't value money, think they are above tidying up and don't need a deposit back. Seriously - my relatives house was totally trashed during the Edinburgh festival let but such
