Adele's songs lack pathos, IMO. "Someone Like You" is a perfectly lovely sad love song. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that song. It could be the backing song in any breakup scene in any movie. If you've broken up with someone you slightly cared for, it will resonate.

Amy was ten times the artist that Adele will ever be. Adele has a great voice but she has no technical training and will fry her vocal chords before long. To me there is no difference in the content of Adele's lyrics and Taylor Swift's lyrics. It's interesting to see the reception of Adele crying about her ex-boyfriends be so different than Taylor Swift doing the same.
