Yeah, it does look a bit flimsy. And not overly practical for anything but a thin laptop / tablet. My tower PC in work has USB holes in the front, or I have some on the side of my monitor. So no good for that.

Does it have palm rejection ? I use my iPad for drawing on all the time with a stylus. If the 10.1 has palm rejection too ( along with the stylus ) and it's nippy enough I may be tempted to get one and let my partner use the iPad....
If all tweens can be encouraged to swallow magnets, wouldn't it make it a lot easier to round them all up, if the time came ? With one of those big magnet cranes that they used in scrap-yards ?

I am with you on the tubes front. You can get very close with them, though lighting then becomes an issue.
I suspect that Canon / Nikon / whoever are likely to shy away from compatibility with their SLR lenses not simply for engineering reasons. If they make a new body they want purchasers to buy in to a new set of glass too. People spend more on lenses, I think, than bodies.

Agreed...if the price is right, of course. My mate has an Asus slate with a Wacom digitiser built in. That's pretty neat. Quite 'fat' ( relatively ), and a bit pricey. If the pricing is on a par with the top of the range iPad ( 3 ) then I may be tempted....
