The thing that bummed me out as well, aside from the fact that he was killed, was that he was supposed to play Zap Brannigan in Futurama. I don't think that would have saved the show, but it would have made been better (not that there was/is anything wrong with the show now).

I was thinking the exact same thing. You always needed at least 3-4 shotgun plays on offense just for that occasion. Its an unfair thing to exploit in a way, but if im in a pinch and i need a stop, you bet your arse im gonna dive past your center and deliver the crushing blow.
