Ahhhh, that’s a totally fair reason not to use it :) It seemed odd not to mention it because of the way it doesn’t influence difficulty, but I didn’t think about the effect the timer could have on psychology, sort of like how people panic when the faster music would come on in the last minute of a Super Mario level

Haha, yeah, this is what’s so cool about Hades! (And something Nathan astutely noted in his tremendous review yesterday.) I’ve chatted with many, many, many people about this game, how they play it, their favorite boons and weapons, what works best for them, all that jazz. Not once have I heard the same thing. There

i don’t think a zero crunch world exists

We don’t know how long their days are right now; if things are rough enough that they’re going back on a public promise of no crunch, I’m assuming that the workers weren’t working 40 hour weeks recently.

I have only one rule in Hades:

If that’s what you wanna call working through how your mom disrespected your paganism during your divorce from your ex-wife in 2009 in the comments section of a video game website appended with “And also, this was when Farmville happened”, then I mean, godspeed. Cheaper than therapy, I suppose.

“Guy who hasn’t pet dog doesn’t understand why we pet dog”

So can we all be honest with the fact that a) Beyond Good and Evil, while certainly an interesting game at the time, is overrated and had very little impact on the medium.

Another Destiny article, another comment section full of burners crying over a game they don’t play, without understanding why this content is being removed(and then coming back)...

There aren’t a lot of SSDs that match the speed of their hard drives right now, and a 1tb PCIe 4.0 SSD is about what these cards are going for.

PS5 is in a similar boat. You’ll need to get certified SSD drives that are compatible with the PS5. I’d expect to pay around the same price to add an extra 1TB to the PS5.

The ven diagram of “But hello games lied” people and “people still play destiny" people is a circle. They're all the same person.

I had wild, unimagined success taking Athena’s deflect+attack (the name of which, escapes me.) With the sword, it just let me stand there and face-tank projectile-throwing enemies (and bosses!) The whole run was amazing.

Not only is Athena my waifu, she’s STUPIDLY OP for runs you want to survive in. That dash-deflect is top tier boon.

Hades gets its gods right by being incredibly hot

This.
I almost beat the game for the first time last night and it was only my 16th run. Athena’s deflect on your dash is life-saving, and just plain fun to use!

Really, any fast-attacking NORMAL strikes (like the Fist weapon or the Spear) with the Athena Boon that grants deflection on the Normal strikes (Square for PS4) will also grant MASSIVE survivability when you spam those attacks when you should not.

Good stuff! Athena and Hermes are both extremely helpful, but I find their stuff better as suited as extra flavoring, complimentary to terrific boons from other gods (i.e., the example above, pairing Hermes’ reflex thing with Poseidon’s dash). Plus I don’t think you can use a keepsake to cause Hermes to show up,

Yeah. Divine Dash is one of the best boons you can get. Even though the damage is negligible the deflection is almost passive if you’re dashing constantly (and why aren’t you?)

Yeah, I’d push back on Stubborn Defiance vs. Death Defiance— I find it much better to have multiple lives to use on the Hades + Theseus fights than being able to die once every room. The nameless guy in Elysium will refill your lives, which makes getting through the endgame much more feasible. But usually, if I’m
