As someone who hates roguelikes, but enjoys a visual novel and is occasionally horny for a diverse pantheon of Greek gods, you just convinced me to purchase this. And I thank you.

Is the first one worth playing today? Does it hold well enough to try it?

That’s if the bots don’t also scoop up all the Xboxen as well. Sony and the various retailers absolutely screwed the pooch on this thing, but Microsoft is depending on those exact same retailers, who have the exact same lack of controls in place to prevent it from happening again.

Sony and their fuck up decided it for me. I had enough to spend on one system, I did not have a preference as nothing is an absolute must buy at the beginning (and I can get cyberpunk 2077 for either anyway) and their jackassery made sure I am going to get the Xbox first.

Congrats douchebags! You could have had it

$70 today is alot cheaper than $70 in the mid-90's. the prices of video games have been going down since the 90's but most people can’t tell because our money is worth less now.

My reaction exactly. This was a loooong time coming. And it’s what has to happen if we want fewer games-as-service models.

meanwhile in the 90's.....

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the monthly plan includes game pass ultimate which is both for PC and Xbox. It’s more confusing than it needs to be I know. The non-ultimate seem platform restricted.

The Xbox is doing everything it can to make playing games affordable though. Sony doesn’t have things put in place in that regard. Sony’s exclusives aren’t enough for me to desire such an allegedly expensive console.
I already have a PS4 and I complain to hell and back about PS+, a feature that I wish was cheaper or

I lose some Sony first party games, but with Xbox crossplay with PC and their system, along with game pass working for both platform, it’s going to be a hard sell for me. Also there’s the 2 year plan thing that makes it an even sweeter deal.

Naw man. This guy just volunteered to individually go through the 1000+ indie games released on Steam annually, plus all the ones on GoG, IO, and IndieGala. He seems to think it’s totally doable.  I look forward to his 1000+ reviews.  Man. Kotaku is gonna be drowning in indie reviews.

One would think it would be your job as a games journalist to uncover great indie games without MS serving them up to you

If you look there at the side of the PS4, you’ll understand why I feel like consoles really should be looking more like mini PCs than they do. I’m not a Microsoft guy, but goddamn if this big ass pillar isn’t a breath of fresh air after 15 years of losing consoles to cooling issues.

Am I crazy for saying that bringing back Aiden Pierce makes me want to play the new watch dogs less than before? He’s easily one of the least likable video game protagonists of all time.

Many will complain about it but it’s more like upgrading a computer. You get to play new games in better condition and you’ll have to wait a bit to see true exclusives. It is a bit weird to not have that ONE title to really sell the new generation possibilities, but Valhalla should be it, if 60FPS with a really crisp

keep in mind that 34.99 isn’t just for the console, it also covers 2 years of xbox live and game pass. which, if you paid for everything individually would cost you $859.

Counterpoint: I like the look of the S but think the PS5 is hideous.

Looks fine to me

I like radios from the 80s, so I like the way the Series S looks based on the resemblance there. But after more than a decade of consoles seemingly unable to keep themselves cool, and sometimes being a terrible pain in the ass to open up and clean, I see this design and all I can see is the sour look on my face as I te

I actually like it. I was planning (and saving!) To get a Series X on launch date but will settle for this one. I don’t really care about 4k and 300 bucks is a very attractive entry point for a next gen system.
