    If I understand this correctly, instead of the non profits opting out and the payment going to the insurance company (under the assumption that the cash is a trade off for the cost of pregnancy) now the assumption is that the government will foot the bill.. ?!

    Exactly, saying it could happen to anyone is just true. The fact that someone made it through that stage of their kids life and never did it doesn't earn them a parenting trophy or anything. It's important for people to understand that it could happen to anyone just by virtue of being on autopilot.
