Well, I found a hack on Amazon that involves thinly slicing a wine cork and using it as an extension of the rubber grommet that surrounds the "needle". Thank GOD I have...a few...of those around! If this doesn't work, your approach is next on the list.

I've used it, and it's incredibly messy. For some reason, the water shoots all over the place. The "load your own" option was what made me decide to get the Keurig, but the mess just isn't worth it to me. If someone has a hack for it, I'm all ears.

I JUST decided yesterday to retire my Keurig for a bit. With single-cup coffee at 50c each (and that's from Sam's Club), I'm going back to my French press until the home economy is a bit more forgiving.
