Very often. Though they are both hack and slashers, they are in my eyes miles apart. I find GoW very slippery and whip-y, while DMC feels very on-point and arcade-y.

the only thing that comes close as a successor is Bayonetta. Sure you can beat the game, without being too fancy, but the richness of the game is doing it better than the last time. Pretty much, imagine streetfighters as an adventure game, as opposed to a one on one fight.
