Student editor Gillian McGoldrick is a rockstar, and is going to have one HELL of a college admissions essay.

This week's issue of "The New Yorker" had a piece on misogynistic trolling. It's about British intellectual/author/professor Mary Beard, who has dealt with the trolls and threats by humiliating them online and broadcasting their abuse to the public.

"Effective immediately, violations of the Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense, with consideration given to mitigating factors"

"I've been in this abusive relationship with you for far too long. I can't do this anymore"

"because no one gets shot in the head from above while standing and fighting."

What do you make of Dr. Baden's comment that he may have been shot in the head because he was charging at the cop? I'm wondering what the Ferguson police will do with that comment.

"all the bullets were fired into his front"

Nice try, but that's no longer considered incorrect.

This article was only one I had trouble reading today because it was so poorly written. For example, I just read Kelly Faircloth's piece on Kate Middleton. She used the Oxford comma perfectly! Nary a misspelling in sight from a cursory read. This article was full of mistakes (I only listed a few). There is no excuse

Which of my "attempted" edits do you disagree with?

It is hardly a derailing tactic to expect PROFESSIONAL WRITERS to know how to use the English language. I agree with you that people critique minorities who are not professional writers for using different dialects and malapropisms, and those are absolutely derailing tactics. But to hold a professional writer to the

Actually, I completely agree with this article. Because I 100% support the content of this article, it makes me sad that a lot of people will disregard the content because of the poor use of English. It also makes reading the article difficult— in addition to the grammatical errors, there were run-on sentences and

Because I 100% support the content of this article, and unfortunately, a lot of people will disregard the content because of the poor use of English. It also makes reading the article difficult— in addition to the grammatical errors, there were run-on sentences and comma splices. Writing well helps to get people to

I don't understand how professional writers can publish an article rife with mistakes. From just a cursory glance:

I was surprised that they wasted such a naturally likable, charismatic actor on a needlessly mean-spirited role. It added nothing to the movie.

I didn't get the impression that they were trying to attack him in the opening scene— he was splashing in puddles and just kicked them because they were there.

Chris Pratt is so likable, which is why I was SHOCKED by how mean-spirited his character was in "Guardians of the Galaxy." The first time we encounter him he's kicking creatures on a planet's surface for no discernible reason— just because he can. In another early scene, we find out that he's a womanizing asshole who

Did you see his political views? "A national leader is someone who understands the needs of businesses. Less regulations, more opportunities for all."

Congratulations!
