I think that's awesome! I refer to myself as my dogs' "mom." They are like children to me; I don't view them as property or objects. I think referring to yourself as your pet's parent shows respect for them and your role as a guardian as opposed to "owner." You own furniture, not animals.

I don't think it's weird; I think it shows that you don't view your animals as property. Just like you can't own people in a moral sense, I don't think you can own animals in a moral sense, either (although the law currently treats animals as chattel, i.e. objects).
