You use energy to go into a complex (the first floor of a dungeon). It takes 15 energy for an easy one, 10 for a normal and 20 for a hard. To go to the next floor takes 10 energy, but there's a floor limit based on what your robot level is (a level separate from your player level).

I actually find myself enjoying this. The whole energy system is still there, but it's implemented much better, not actually stopping you in the middle of a good 10-15 minute chunk of playtime.
