It would be more of a Harriet/Hermione thing instead of a Harry/Ron thing.
It would be more of a Harriet/Hermione thing instead of a Harry/Ron thing.
That's a very good point. Its always been a bit of a throwback and probably always will be, it has always seemed like a look back on the (sometimes just recent) past, and it shines a spotlight on themes and situations in an almost hindsight sort of way.
If you don't think it would make much of a difference, whats the point? The themes of doctor who change, they change with the times, but the core aspects are always similar. Loss, fatherhood, maturity, relationships. They are also, and have always been, strongly from the male point of view.
He waited like a thousand years for his wife. Thats love right there

I'd be much happier serving my country if i didn't have to be a soldier and go through basic and live in barracks and move away from my home. I'm a bit of a wuss, and i'm soft. I'm great with technology, and love my country, but i don't want to be a soldier of ANY stripe
You're right. Pretty much everything about Bond is a male power fantasy (and there is nothing wrong with that). There is no reason we should change or get rid of it. I'm all for a female-verison but it wouldn't be like Bond, because Bond movies are all about the epitome of male power.
That entirely depends on how you want your action. Do you want brutal, muscle-powered epics like Bourne, or do you want graceful, flippy martial arts.
Getting a female bond seems unlikely, but i'd have loved to see a female bond-like series.
Does it have to? Putting aside that JK is all 'meh' now about the Ron/Hermione thing. You could STILL have had Harriet pining after Hermione, there is no reason that couldn't have worked.
I actually would have PREFERRED a female Harry.. I'm not sure, Harriet just seems like she would have been fun. Aside from the Harry/Hermione thing (which, mind you, could STILL have happened) there was nothing really important about his gender.
Okay, but why? Honest question as i've seen this pushed a lot and i can't understand why people want him to regenerate into a woman because that he hasn't and people want fair and balanced gender representation.
I think Doctor Who COULD have been female, but i'm very much against the idea of regeneration into a woman. I think it would muddle the ethos, it would skew the journey. Could the Doctor have been a woman? sure. Could he BECOME a women? No. Because too much of it is about, as others have said, the slow progression of…
I don't want to say it sounds like a cry for attention buuuuuut...
To be fair, she said she'd be 18. And if some magical turning of the seasons bullshit is all you're waiting for, a few weeks is no different.
I can't think of anything in any of the riddick movies that would be considered all that gratuitous. There is some nudity and some heavy violence but there are so many worse things out there. All an R rating does for Riddick is allow them to stick to tone, and allow them to show the odd R-stuff if they need to, or if…
She is still kinda sticking her but out AND pressing her boobs together but we can't have everything. She's also wearing the same clothes as anyone else.
See, this is where the argument gets tripped up. This is the reason he's going for an R rating, this is so he CAN do this, and people can choose, seeing this big R, know what is in store.
Best post ever.
Its not really about the swears and nakedness and gore. An R rating also has to do with 'themes' and there are themes that you can't put into a PG-13 movie, and they are themes he (and obviously others) wanted to.
