In my experience, white people who claim to be victims of "reverse racism" are almost certainly racist themselves. Their claims of racism victimhood are usually leveled against things like affirmative action, equal rights, or any situation in which their white privilege is nullified.

I am SURROUNDED by white people who claim not to be racist & claim to be victims of racism themselves, who say the craziest racist shit. It blows my mind. It goes beyond a disconnect. I honestly cannot figure it out. I hate to call it a kind of mental illness because I don't want to insult people with genuine mental

Tomorrow is my birthday, so I'm hoping for her to give birth tomorrow for me! So you can have extra cake, one for you birthday and one for mine.

I need to figure out how to spend less than the 0% of the time I already spent watching The View.

Glass half empty: This woman is the fucking worst.

Happy birthday! Enjoy ALL the cake!

Color me shocked that he's not using the "I was drunk" excuse. Seems like that'd be the easy way out.

I agree, and I can genuinely believe he had no idea what Take Back the Night was. What I can't believe is that this song's name wasn't cleared through legal before it was finished/released. Somebody on his team or at his label dropped the ball BIG time.

I don't know if it's so hard to believe that Timberlake himself didn't know about it, seeing as he never attended college (where I first became familiar with the group) and he's not really a political activist anyway...but it's unbelievable that none of the people working for his record label, his management, his

I just had a funny image of someone getting a subpoena-like notification that their honorary minority status has been revoked. Ha! Thanks for pointing me towards your other response.

Oh, well no worries there. I have no illusions about us living in a post-racial society. At all.

I feel bad for Jack. He really seems like an awesome dude and is just too good at being a fucking monster. People legit yell at him on the street! He is going to give up acting (not because of the yelling) after Game of Thrones and wants to be a professor. And he often wears t-shirts with latin jokes on them so:

YES. I feel so bad for Gleeson — he's a fucking incredible actor (it is HARD to make an audience viscerally hate a character like we do with Joffrey) and people don't want to accept that he's supposed to be a super nice guy in real life. I am glad this video exists.

This is a really interesting issue you bring up, thanks for putting it out there. Like you nicely illustrated, I can understand the impulse to get defensive when people appear to lump me in with something I don't feel like I'm part of. It's difficult for folks to appreciate that sometimes, marginalized voices need

I don't think "recommend" is enough to convey what an excellent comment this is.

I fully agree.

I'm sure that is sometimes true, but at the end of the day if you say "not all ... are like that" you're dismissing what somebody is trying to tell you about their personal experience and making it about yourself instead. A real ally, whether it's a feminist man or a straight gay rights activist or a white anti-racism

I think sometimes when people say "hey we aren't all like that" it's not necessarily from a defensive position (although it often is); sometimes I think people are trying to convey "hey I think that sucks too; I'm on your side"...but it certainly doesn't come across well...

I don't know, I see people get flack on the net all the time when they say that "God, black people just get on my nerves sometimes, they're so loud, obnoxious, and lazy." ... "Hey, now I'm not talking about all black people, just the loud, obnoxious, lazy, ghetto ones. You're not one of them so you shouldn't be

Yes! Thank you! I've been thinking that since the OMG NOT ALL WHITE PEOPLE ARE LIKE THAT comments started rolling in. Most of us on here want to be taken seriously and listened to and believed when we talk about our negative experiences with men and not have the conversation derailed by dudes trying to make it about
