What's interesting is I think Destiny's minimalism harkens back to the way games were back in the days of NES when the most story you got was a paragraph or two inside the game manual. A lot of story exists in the "set" design, in the Grimoire cards, and in the brief Ghost dialogue/narration.

I had an Xbox 360 and was very happy with that product (minus the red ring of death that felled two of them...). I owned the original Xbox, too. In any case, I was extremely unhappy with the Xbox One price point and forced Kinect features. Other than Halo, there weren't any games I played that were specific to Xbox.
