@weezermc78: You dont have to spend cash on ultimate team to have fun with it mate. Win games against equal OVR teams and sell coaches, playbooks, stadium and uniforms from your packs through auctions which has a low auction fee (50 coins I think)

@IcarianHeights: They have not changed it. I got tired of contract renewing of gold players so I made a rookie-only team, 3x Dez Bryant and 3x Joe Haden.. :s

@FlyveHest: They had/have this thing where your accomplishments in the former game gives you x amount of coins in the next. I did not play Madden 10 so I dont recall the details..
