He did. Right after he made the face of someone who is just noticing a gas leak.

Not a lip reader but I’m pretty sure the guy behind him says, “Froze the pond?”

Ali is certainly a class of his own, but Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio and Pat Tillman also gave years of their life (in Tillmans case, all of them) to “fight” for what they believed in. This is not to denigrate Ali, what he did, in my mind, is no less brave or important than what those others did.

Cavs are a different team than when they played the Ws at any time this year. Mozzy is totally out of the rotation and LBJ is part of 2nd unit rotation that can beat most teams - but still will be difficult to play against Ws. I don’t think there’s a lineup configuraiton that could do to the Ws what OKC did last

What was so different last night - besides physicality, was OKCs creation of so many turnovers. GS looked so sloppy last night. OKC wasn’t any better (17 TOs to 22 for GS) but they seemed to recover well. GS seemed afraid to go after loose balls. At one point last night, OKC was diving on the floor for loose balls.

I don’t think anyone is invalidating the 73 wins. It was an amazing accomplishment. What is being invalidated is the “one of the greatest teams ever” argument. The truth is, last year GS got incredibly lucky throughout the playoffs. In almost every round they played a team that had lost at least one key piece of its

When you dance and stare people down at every made shot, be prepared to get killed when you get destroyed.

I’m not a huge fan of any of the “all-in-one player assessment” stats, but I went to basketball-reference to check what the 1996 equivalent of a Durant/Westbrook team would be. Interesting to see the shift in what types of player were valuable under the old rules: the ‘96 lists are basically Jordan plus a bunch of

Yeah, fuck the Warriors for getting their ass kicked by a team with two of the top 5 players in the league. All the old-school players chiming in on this will be nigh-insufferable, like Cardinals-enforcing-unwritten-rules insufferable

Golden State is the most over-hyped team I have ever seen. Not to mention arrogant. All of that talk of Greatest Team Ever, Better than the MJ Bulls, and Dynasty is such a joke. Hubris hurts, don’t it?

I wrote up a much longer take on this on a previous Deadspin/Simmons post, but here’s my view: Replacement level programming (both TV and web) for ESPN is extraordinarily cheap. ESPN will be on in every bar and a lot of dudes’ homes no matter what’s on. They don’t need to pay Simmons $5mil per year to produce 10

If After the Thones is any indication, this will be an absolute wreck of a show that I’ll watch every week for reasons I don’t entirely understand.

I prefer the sinus rinse because it includes the ability to apply pressure and really force the snot out of there. But when you see blood, it’s time to stop for a few days.

Neti pot, neti pot, neti pot.

20 bucks says somehow, before his career is over, Bradford will be on the Browns at some point.

This all but guarantees that whomever the Eagles pick, that the Browns basically abandoned, will be awesome, because God hates the Browns.

The Tennessee Titans just saved a QB from a future with the Cleveland Browns. They’re heroes.
