"It's the gritty reboot of the Pink Panther, but thanks for playing."

So if you saw Wanted and Kick-Ass, you pretty much know what to expect from Kingsman.

Well, I've always loved Blomkamp's work from his early Internet days. Elysium was a stumble* but I'm willing to give Chappie a try!

I think I found the people who can fight this thing:

There are a few misconceptions about the trenches:

This carapace and all of the vaguely monstrous shapes on the ship's hull were part of what made me believe the notion that this was meant to look Giger-esque.

Mess, not genius. No question. Great art direction, great performances, great score, great cinematography, but sadly all tied together with some of the worst writing I've seen in years.

Best music video of all time.

I may have posted this before. My 10 year old nephew was looking through my DVDs and asked "What's Krull?" My brother said "It means your uncle has too much money to spend." I replied "No, I love Krull! Battle Beyond the Stars means I have too much money to spend!"

This:

Manos: The Hands of Fate

This seemed like such an awful film, but at the same time I kept feeling like there was something deeply subversive going on beneath the film's surface that I'm fairly certain wasn't deliberate. It made me wonder if Michael Bay's jingoism, racism, and misogyny is a deliberate attempt to create a grotesque, macabre

Genius for sure.

Exactly. I like watching it, but it is kind of a mess. By far the best character is Ruby Rhod.

That's the thing. If the Purge is some sort of cover story for the rich to be able to use deadly force against the poor, they missed the whole point of the society we have now. State violence, in the form of the police and the armed forces, is considered valid, in that the citizenry has agreed to allow for that state

You mean, "The Call to Adventure," "Refusal of the Call," and "Crossing the Threshold"? I think we're stuck with them for a while.

Dog, regardless of context: FUCK YEAH, PETTING!

I bet a dog probably loves it. A dolphin is probably all "Fuck your pain, human. Give me a sardine."

Yeah that last line, "The bear was destroyed..." really shocked me. Destroyed is not the word I would have used there...makes it sound even more horrifying then put down.

I want to see a Russian bootleg of the original trilogy now.
