Yes, thank you for acknowledging that! I love Daryl but the 'redneck turned progressive hero' way that he's developed into a hyper-competent and moral hero is very Gary Stu-ish. I love him but I find Glenn a much more realistic character in that sense...

There was a lot of unwarranted (in my opinion) hate for her when she was having sex with Shane, as if everyone was equally privy to his instability. And I think it grew from there. Apparently, and I don't know if this is true, but they weren't 100% planning to kill her until the actress (Laurie Holden) asked to be

I was a big Andrea fan in season one and even season two, though she was problematic in some elements. She was the strongest established female character for a long time, until they introduced Maggie (and her development took time).

Just because we're all mentioning Asian actors here... Can I say how much I still love Russell Wong? And how Brenda Song has grown on me exponentially post-Suite Life?

I love John Cho! He's one of the best parts of NBC's Go On and he's utterly wasted there.

I think 'hyper-sexualization' and 'fetishization' are commonly accepted as legitimate terms in academic circles - at least, I've used them in graduate level papers and it's been accepted!

In Canada (which just recently opened its borders to VS), it's called March Break - but their campaign isn't markedly different here, I don't think.

I recently rewatched all of Veronica Mars and while the third season was pretty bloody awful, one of the most notable things about the show (to me) was that Veronica was allowed to be damaged, allowed to be mean and unfair and cruel AND still be the hero.

That is almost 20x my student debt.

Ah, the show I'm supposed to watch but don't! Got it. Thanks!

But... You weren't being mean. And let's assume it was read as mean, or even unnecessarily interfering, the response seems disproportionately and almost violently angry. I don't get it.

My nephew watches cartoons so if you tell me one of them voices Umi Zoomi or something, I'd get it. Otherwise, I knew only knew the people who were famous for things outside of their work in child/youth programming. (Except Kiernan Shipka, I still don't know who that is).

Wow. Their response to this comment is outrageous.

I don't mean to jump into your conversation but my parents are Indian immigrants (and I'm also in Canada) and we actually, sort of, maybe, definitely judge people who drink weak tea. Unless you have an upset tummy.

Hmm. I already promised to check out Stephen King but I think going back to the Robert Jordan well will be next on my list.

I read the first two and part of the third over a decade ago - they are very, very long, involved and complicated fantasy books. There are, I believe, 14 and counting in the series (though the original author has passed away). I would recommend it but it would be a labour of love.

I may have gotten sidetracked by reading up on the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan but I promise I will check out Mr. King soon!

I got through 2.5 books before something distracted me and when I tried to go back, I was hopelessly lost. The idea of reading through 1000+ pages just to play catch up put me off. But uh, I have spent some time today (*coughoveranhourcough*) reading up on it on the web.

I saw the Rose Red miniseries and it was amazing... It definitely made me want to read the book (though I understand there was some deviation). Maybe that's what I'll do this weekend!

I totally recognize that as an adult! But man, where did all that pretension come from as a kid?
