When I was 17 my first car barfed its mechanicals all over the street and I had a couple of grand to throw around. For the money I had things came down to two cars, a '68 Nova with rough paint and bench seats or a cherry '81 Volvo 244.

I have seen a lot of skydiving planes; I would never associate the term "perfectly good" with any of them. I might go as far as to say "probably airworthy".
I wanted a CJ-7 with a straight 6, 4 or 5 speed, minimal mods and no rust. 18 months later I settled and got a YJ that almost met my requirements, but was pretty cheap.
That hardly looks safe, but being dragged behind a Porsche at full throttle with another one on heels seems notably less safe.
The Federal office status for DC is "Call your boss on his cell phone and tell him your plan"
That is a pretty good summation of my feelings about DC as well.
Well, not actually near me, I live a long way from the snow. The only way this could happen is if I have to travel somewhere for work this winter.
Oh look, we combine snow, a jackass, and a semi and we end up with a huge mess. Isn't this always the way it works.
Clydesdale. It just sounds like it would be a huge awesome work truck. It would be best applied to a FWD micro-van. The Geely Power Clydesdale now with 720cc engine.
I really wish that this scum-sucking parasite guy was right, but even if every car was perfectly safe in every conceivable way we would still have personal injury lawyers chasing ambulances for every "slip and fall" and "product liability" incident.

I guess you could take it car shows and it would attract attention, but it would be a pain in the ass to get it there.
This is why most folks call what the TSA does "Security Theater". Pretty much the only effective security change since 9/11 was reinforced cockpit doors, everything else is just theater.
If you think you hate it now, just wait 'till you drive it.
Well no, it is bigger than a breadbox but smaller than a Current 500.
Still, better than a Prius or a Pt Cruiser so it has that going for it.
It is notably smaller than a fiesta.
I think it is telling that I never had an Aveo as a rental car. It is though even the third tier rental car companies couldn't send a customer out in an Aveo. A Chevy Spark, that is still a real car.
I rented a spark once to drive from Seattle to Oak Harbor WA (~3 hrs north). It was one of the smallest cars I have ever driven and possibly the most half assed. Behind the back seat there was exactly enough space for my backpack and my carry-on luggage. It was a squirly little roller-skate on the freeway. The…
