I would sign in a minute if there had been even one past success with these petitions. instead every one that hits the required number of signatures gets a nicely worded paper that says:

I think I understand. The problem starts when you have at least n+1 cars where n=number of drivers in the house. Then one of the cars, usually an older one that is fully paid for gets an annoying problem that makes it less fun to drive. Then it gets left for around a month. Now the battery is dead. Now just to

I used to be all butt hurt about this meme, but then I took an arrow in the knee

You know, you were right about #1 :)

If you think you hate it now, just wait 'toll you drive it.

Rankine is also acceptable.

Betty was much better than Daisy, but after a while Daisy grew on me. Oh and if you never saw the movie, don't. You will be happier.

Now playing

This whole thing makes me think of this classic "dead like me" episode.

There is a thread on the Samba about this. It was amazing how little this van started out as.

If you read the auction, it looks like it is actually pretty heavily restored to achieve that look. The split seats came from another vehicle, the floorpan has been re-welded, the brakes have been redone, and the signage has been repainted.

now sitting at $28,380.00 . I wouldn't be at all surprised if the price doubles or even triples before it sells. While it may not be everyones tastes, this is highly original and it has CA black plates. The collectors go nuts for that stuff.

I see the california plates, and I want to know how does it pass smog. '79 isn't smog exempt. NP for getting through the tape and getting a blown car CA tags.

That is one way to keep your tire temperature up on the long straits.

I think both are wrong, look at the kinetic energy in the system. kE=1/2 M V^2 If all of the energy in the system is expended in one shot. Lets say that:

The thermal efficiency is awesome in something where it matters but weight and expense is less important, like a semi or other long haul comercial vehicle. VicVegas wanted to see it in a Baja truck, and I am not so sure that a turbine would be a good choice there.

One of the problems with using a turbine in a wheeled vehicle is the utterly crap size of the usable power band and the very high speed. If I remember right the GE 701 has a power band between 30,000 and 32,000 rpm. a little less than 10% speed variation. Damn hard to do a gearbox with (unless you have one stout

This is someones dream that turned out to be less cool than he thought it would be. It looks like it would be fun for about 20 minutes.

I am with you there, I thought the difference was the drive wheels. The GMC Safari is RWD (or AWD) like a truck there fore it is a van. he Toyota sienna, the Honda Odyssey, the Chevy venture/highlander, etc, etc.... all FWD (or tacked on AWD) therefore mini-van.

Although I was being snarky in my first post, did you know that the caffeine in Mountain Dew likely comes from coffee?
