E39 M5: Clutch. Replaced under warranty in both of mine. One was replaced at only 17k miles.

@AMGkiller: I had two '01 M5s. They both treated me exceptionally well and had nearly no issues. I sold the second one two years after I bought it with over 108k miles for more than 2/3 of what I paid for it.

@xaronax: I don't get why everyone thinks this is illegal. As others have said above, it is 100% legal in all of the non-Nazi Commonwealth (i.e., VA) states. DC is the only other place they're illegal. They are, however, illegal by federal law in vehicles over 10,000 lb.
