It would be awesome if someone would modify a Link Amiibo into a female version. Not that it'd be easy...

This is the only time in which I've seen "I wish...was" on Kotaku and it could actually be construed as correct English. I think you meant "were" instead of "was", because using the past tense instead of the subjunctive tense implies that Destiny is finished, when it's an ongoing game.

The PS1 ROM also has such a tag. I would need to look it up, but it does.

I don't get why they're so much money. There are literally *one million* of them in that landfill. Supply should seriously outstrip demand in this case.

I can provide a similar write-up on Super Mario Bros.'s Minus World if you like. I'm @myriachan on Twitter.

I'm working on doing the same kind of things to Triforce of the Gods 2 a.k.a. A Link Between Worlds now that the 3DS security is breakable by mere mortals like me. I've already mapped out some of the save file format and disassembled part of the game executable.

I've posted pictures of myself glitching and cheating Triforce of the Gods 2 a.k.a. A Link Between Worlds and Nintendo never said anything to me or deleted my posts. *shrugs and tries to go back to sleep after being woken up by her cat*

My friend and I translated Final Fantasy 5 back in 1997, pretty much kick-starting the video game fan translation scene (though we weren't truly the first). Square never said a single word to us neither then nor the ~17 years since, and at the time, Square's American office was about 8 miles from us.

There are two adjacent final battle rooms, and it is possible to fly from one to the other if you haven't started the fight. That's a mostly-normal part of the game and has been known for a long time.

You know how only the female draenei have horns? In nature, when only one of the sexes has horns, it means the horns are used to fight over mates. Says a lot about female draenei =^-^=

This new run is 5 seconds faster than Zaheer's run from 2 weeks ago, and a minute faster than one of Zaheer's from June, and this is the one that gets mentioned? You might want to check who is on the top of the chart the longest...

I had a project to retranslate Breath of Fire 1. I was reverse-engineering the name entry screen and noticed a very strange state machine that was checking the state of controller 2's buttons, which didn't make a whole lot of sense in context.

Yes, it's also my assumption that it was for Capcom and Square QA.

Now playing

Sometimes, people do eventually find such things. In January 2013, I discovered a cheat code in Breath of Fire 1 that nobody'd found for almost 20 years:

Nintendo may want to revise the statement about defining cheating as using an "external device". Generation 1 Pokemon games (Red/Blue/Yellow/also Green in Japan) had an arbitrary code execution exploit that could be done by humans without any external hardware - what happens if something similar is found in X and Y?

Nintendo probably won't like this, since Pokemon is just an abbreviation for Pocket Monster in the first place. You should talk to Kotaku lawyers first.

I was the reverse engineer behind the unauthorized (ROM hack) fan translation of Final Fantasy 5 back in 1997. I wonder whether they'd want me in on this.

And I'm sure that they're not going to bother replace Ted change-every-name Woolsey's translation of Breath of Fire 1. My Internet name, Myria, is one of the names he mangled. She's the last boss of Breath of Fire 1 and 3. He changed Myria's name for seemingly no reason to Tyr. But apparently, Ted doesn't know

Here's to hoping that he does the same to the Dark World and Hyrule and Lorule of Triforce of the Gods 2. =^_^=

Hey, your 7a and 18 are misspelled. 18 should be Tina and 7a should be Mash.
