Sadly, cannot take credit for that. It was an autocorrect thing

Point taken. Plus there is whaat tvtropes calls “The rule of cool”

Or how’ve ‘bout this: “...and don’t worry lil’ buddy. We’ll take a backup of you on this here. galactic hyper-USB stick Sandeep re-instantiate you in a much cooler robo-body as a reward for your sacrifice. May the force be with you!”

The real question is even more basic:for a society that can make human-level AI robots, WHY did a human need to sacrifice herself to pilot the ship? Maybe the AI’s are considered sentiments and just as valuable as humans, but how come a non-sentient AI - a super-capable autopilot - couldn’t have been set to pilot the

Yes, the peril-sensitive car ignition! But as an Old Guy, it was at least *slightly* less silly if you remember cars before fuel injection and electronic ignition. Up until the early 1980’s, even a well maintained car often required more than one try to get the engine to start. It was common enough that it was the

I am not a Wrangler guy so I dunno how that will be received by the Jeep community, but the fact that Fiat-Chrysler has a 360+ HP 2.0L turbo motor is GREAT! This could go into so many cars that I would find awesome. Imagine a Fiat 500 Abarth with this. Or an Alfa 4C. Hell, put it in a Chrysler 200!

I don’t see the problem. Of course a true no-haggle price would not be the absolute best price. The theory is that the dealer is picking a fair price that is a win-win for both sides. I would expect that if I want a rock-bottom price I must be willing to hoof it to half a dozen dealerships multiple times, play them

Excellent analysis. I do not go to H2OI because I am outside of the age demographice and because one of my college buddies with a huge house on the bay off Kent Island hosts our own private Speedweek around the same time. My wife (who was born & raised in Freeland MD) will only give me one kitchen pass for car events

Aren’t these protests about the mistreatment of people of color? Exactly how many non-white people work in NASCAR? I don’t imagine that there was a stampede to protest.

The landmines America planted?

The fuel consumption question is interesting, but in mountain driving with a normal car or truck it is very easy to overheat the brakes unless you use engine braking. Even on an automatic transmission vehicle you will want to select a lower gear (modern car with auto stick or paddle shifters) or L2/L1 (olde skool

Not just New Jersey... Woodland Park, which until recently was named West Paterson. Which is nicer than Camden, I guess.

Excellent article!

I can’t comment on the relative worth of crypto currency vs. traditional money. But Blockchain is very useful, probably verging on the impact that html had in the tech world. Blockchain is used to implement Bitcoin, but it can be used in many other areas, especially anything requiring distributed trust.

From various videos online it looks like people come to this very spot to do exactly what the woman got killed doing. Bet a fair number got hurt in the past but not killed. So it becomes a thrill-seeking thing to do and the potential victims ignore or minimize the risk..

I hear you on the stupidity of the action, but I’m going to play the Devil’s Advocate and suggest that making the end of the runway THAT easily accessible to random people is also stupid. Because you KNOW that there are going to be stupid people who will try to get a kick out of playing in the jet blast, and you know

Any Lotus Elise owner would be instantly expert at putting that roof on the S660!

Thank you for channeling the ghost of Robert Moses :-)

As an Olde Pharte engineer, i would like to make two comments:

Not sure about 6' 8", but I can confirm that a 6' 5" person can fit in an Elise with the roof on and not scrape his head. Not sure on forward visibility, but he didn’t complain.
