I have a coworker who has never paid more that $500 for a car and never does any maintenance. They last surprisingly long but the last one, the brakes were so bad he would bungee the brake pedal up to the steering wheel when he parked it. When I saw this I asked him why and he said the pedal dropped so far down it

I don’t think it was just the cost but also the convenience they can sell to the customer: “Our engines are clean and you don’t have to bother with the additional cost or trouble of adding urea.” Given the choice between two cars would you take one that you just have to fill up with diesel or one you have to buy

My wife says it's a station wagon.

New MazdaSpeed3, is there anything you can share?

Doesn’t bother me on older cars. I have two E30s with over 150k on them and a 2006 RAV4 with 155k. However I just sold an e90 with 89k miles because the list of “these things will go wrong” started happening in rapid succession. I guess if the car is old enough or simple enough for me to do most of the work on,

Calypsorot Alpina convertible? I want this so bad. . .

My sister-in-law never parks across two spaces, unless she comes to my house. Then she parks in the exact middle of my driveway in almost every direction. Yet, I’ve never felt the desire to hit a home run with her mirror?

Agreed. I don’t like when people take up two spots, even at the back of the lot. In my opinion it attracts exactly what you don’t want which is undue attention like this. Plus my wife and I both drive e30’s now so it just makes me cringe every time I see another damned BMW headline! But the main reason I am posting it

This is awesome, i never even thought about doing that!

I’m going to be honest, I’m only voting for this because I currently drive one and it will never beat all the evo’s etc.; but it’s a damn fine automobile!

Hello magnesium, goodbye fire extinguisher.

Coming out of that curve is the only place to really nail it and I am guessing he punched it and lost it there. I was there on Wednesday (my first time doing anything like this) in the Audi and this was the place where you could get as fast as possible in the run up to the braking zone to get into the road course

I was at this track on Wednesday and drove the Audi R8 for six laps while my family was at Disneyland for vacation. I wanted the Porsche but it was down for maintenance, regardless it was a great experience and I thought it was about as safe as you are going to get driving a supercar around a track.

I bought my first e30 last summer. I gave it a pretty thorough look over before I bought it but I thought I'd get a second opinion. I took it to "the" shop in town who are supposed to know older BMWs to see if there was anything I missed.

My old Tacoma pickup was super light and RWD so whenever we would get a big snow, I would shovel my driveway into the bed of my truck. This is amazing because I kill three birds with one stone; my driveway is clean, my truck has plenty of additional weight on the back axles and when it warms up and I no longer need

I just came back from lunch with a girl who bought one of these. They bought it pretty cheap but I think they don't have any idea about maintenance and probably don't know what they are in for. It is a really sweet ride though. These are all automatics, any data on how the transmissions are holding up?

Holy Fuck. Normally I come to Jalopnik and it makes me very happy. You know, I read about Doug's broken down Land Rover or some BMW driver doing 190 in a school zone while texting. But this is just, wrong. Just, so fucking wrong.

I used to manage a record store, anyone remember those? I also played drums in a bunch of indie bands and ran a super small recording studio. Digital killed the income sources of all three of those pursuits in different ways. I was never into those things because I loved money, I did them - and still do them -

I'm glad they are still focusing on rear bias though. Yeah it's a competition thing with Audi but I really appreciate that BMW stuck to their guns so long for RWD only performance cars. Especially as much as they have watered down the brand by sticking M's on everything and packing on the pounds.
