Sometimes it's necessary like when living in areas where bears come knocking at your door. Exceptions had to be made, thus.

I have backed 6 projects so far (3 merchandise and 3 videogame-related). Of the six, only one project (Pressy) is not going according to plan. The email updates even stopped at the beginning of the year (updates are still posted on the Kickstarter website).

I would take a bigger sensor with a fast fixed lens over a slow zoom lens with a sensor that's only slightly bigger (1/2.3") than the one found in the Galaxy S5 (1/2.5") but likely has similar pixel density given the extra MPs.

If you can make anything comprehendible come out of that, especially this bit:

The X100(S) is not weatherproof, you know. I have been reckless with mine and now the EVF acts up sometimes and doesn't work well.

It seems the new high-end cards won't arrive until 2015. Might as well make them DX12-compatible, I guess. Nothing confirmed yet, though.

It's cheap because it's freaking TN. Give me IPS and then I will think about it.

Ah, the Kei cars or as some like to call them "sewing machines on wheels". I once rented one to go to the Shiratani Unsuikyo in Yakushima and the thing could barely produce enough power over the mountainous roads to reach over 40km/h. Luckily that was the speed limit on most roads.

Well, it is high time that SEGA came up with an FPS version of ECCO the dolphin.

I never realized how big these B2 bombers were until I had to shoot one down in Ace Combat 4!

You'd be surprised how many ladies on OKCupid in Japan clearly states they're looking for friends only. This makes me wonder "why not join Meetup if you're looking for friends only?"

The rebranding thing is not new. I can remember them redoing it as far back as 2009 when the 8800GT/GTX cards were rebranded as 9800GT/GTX and then when the the 9800GTX+ was rebranded as the GTS250 (but on a smaller die).

Here in Yokohama, where it's pretty hilly outside the main roads, many people have electric assist motors on their bicycles to help them climb the hills. Those who don't, walk their heavy "Mama Chari" bikes up the hill. I have a hybrid bicycle (called 'crossbike' here) that's relatively light so I try to push as hard

Granted, driving in the US is more relaxing but I would still take those clueless drivers over aggressive drivers who would actively try to kill you if you don't let them pass (on an extremely crowded road during the rush hour nonetheless).

I think you should visit India or the Middle East first. Drivers in Japan aren't the best but they're generally okay and nowhere near the worst.

AMD and nVidia do rebaranding all the time. It saves them money and the customers buying those low-end (or even higher-end like in the case of AMD's 280X) aren't that tech-savvy to worry about the little details.

Only the lower end ones are actually Maxwell. The rest are just Kepler stuff. nVidia released some lower end Maxwell-based Desktop GPUs (under the 700 family) as well. These will all benefit from the better design but for Maxwell to really take off and deliver its promised performance while keeping power consumption,

It's partly TSMC's fault. Their inability to stabilize the 20nm production process means no meaningful 800 series cards until the later half of the year at the earliest.

On the other hand, you have manga like these from Square-Enix promoting cigarettes.

This was around the time I entered college so I enjoyed using the relatively fast connection on campus as opposed to the slow dial-up at home (where my mother would occasionally tell me to disconnect because she wanted to make a call/was expecting a call).
