She told police that she felt something was ‘not right’ so she removed the scarf and mask, and saw Newland standing there wearing a woolly hat, swimming suit and prosthetic penis.
ok but
I’ve never had a guy totally freak out on me about it, but usually what I’ll do if they really, truly won’t let me pay is firmly say that I’ll pay for the movie/other activity/next date (if it seems like there will be one). And then I follow through- if he tries to pay for that, then I’ll just cheerfully say something…
I thought the person extending the invite usually paid. I mean if you are going by formal etiquette rules.
I always at least offer to pay, because GENDER ROLES, but also I’m cheap so I’m secretly hoping you say “oh don’t worry about it”
Okay, I’ll bite. Am I really the only one who at least tries to get the guy to let me chip in for half? Sometimes the guy on the date stubbornly won’t let me, in which case I’ll usually concede (because I don’t want to get into a huge argument about it) and pay for the second date (if there is one) or, if we’re going…
Yeah, this is kind of how I feel. On OITNB they were particularly concerned about Laverne’s mental state in having to play a man, and she was delighted to find she couldn’t pass for one at all.
Maybe you aren’t a trans person and don’t really see the issues with The Danish Girl or maybe you are trans and just don’t mind. However in the interest of making sure that this comment section has one slightly miffed trans person in it I thought I’d leave my thoughts.
The trailer immediately positions Lili as being a…
I kind of wonder, though, in a film where the main character presents as male for most of it - it seems like it might be traumatic for a trans woman, who has probably spent a long time getting her outward presentation to match her sense of self, to have to present as male again for so much of it. Although, you know,…
On the one hand, I think you have a good point. They are a tiny percent of the population and if you are talking about them having appropriate representation it would be a very small percent of the roles.
The movie industry, both in constitution and in product, is not representative of greater society. And are you really in favor of quotas? Sorry, Hollywood can't do another action flick this year: they've only got roles left open for Japanese librarians and Latin@ tax professionals.
I can’t stand the whole “speak English in America” bullshit. There is no official national language! Plus it’s just a cover for racism.
I know kids are picky but I would be so humiliated if I ever said “MY CHILD DOESNT EAT GREEN FOOD!” that loudly in public.
That’s what I do: When I want to see Americans speaking English, I go to a kebab shop.
I happen to like Anne. I think she’s talented. But telling someone the first time you’ve hung out that they’re a “magnificent creature” might be a bit much? Maybe more for a second meeting. Or a wedding toast. Eulogy?
To all the people saying that various BCO stories are too out of control to have actually happened, I give you this.
Ugh, yes. The original list says,
Jesus. The small children I saw at Ozzfest.
