Well, it is a press-release demo, so I wouldn't be surprised if they rigged it in this specific instance so that they could show off the night affect in a way that complements the narrative the demo's storyline. Heck, I could live with having to switch the minimap on for the stealthy ship missions. The minimap function that I can't do without is knowing which way the wind is blowing.
