@LordNige: If he goes to Hell, that's what'll be playing over the netherworld intercom. Constantly.

@gigawings: Definitely gave me a Deception vibe, too. I really should play one of those games at some point. Even picked up the hilariously retitled "Trapt" at one point, though I never got around to play it.

DOODLOODOODLOODOODLOODOODLOO!

Dammit. I was making headway in my backlog of games, but then Super Street Fighter 4 AE dropped, and I got distracted again. Whyyyy can't I play games that I actually complete?

This is the best comic I read today.

I want a virutal key, too.

Good stamina management. I dunno if you've been to the Demon's Souls Wikia page, but I'm the one who wrote that bit about lowering your shield briefly between strikes when Flamelurker decides to go into rapid-fire mode. Both Flamelurker and Allant went down on the first try, even if they were tough fights. The spear

Nah, I was never bothered by the stamina thing. I will say one thing about my setup, though: Slow rolling and a spear is fine against enemies, but against enemy players? Completely freaking useless.

@Habboi: I wondered about that, too, but it's not like DS was littered with huge masses of blood spatters. And let's face it: Dying happens more often than beating a boss.

@pan_22: Depends how you play. Certain weapons work better than others with heavier armor: I made it through most of the first playthrough using heavy armor, upgraded winged spear and Lava Bow in my right hand, PFS and miracle thingy in my left hand. Bait-and-punish tactics aplenty.

@ValeriaHeart: Demon's Souls' difficulty was pretty perfect for that game, I felt. This sounds like it'll reward creativity more than straight-up combat skills, which is the kind of difficulty I'd rather see.

One thing struck me pretty much immediately: That pile of radioactive waste barrels on the left of the beginning of the opening stage is actually really good design. In just one pile of barrels with some boxes and enemies on you, it teaches you your jump height and that you can kill stuff by shooting through other

But that's... exactly what I said I'd do. Spend money on better 3D Classics if/when they come out. :)

Whuh? Holy freaking yes, you're right! I'd completely missed that.

Yeah. What the game DID, even if I got tired of it after a few minutes, is to prove that NES games do actually look pretty good when they do some simple 3D/polygonal updates to them. In that respect, it did what it should do: Convinced me that I might be interested in buying future 3D Classics stuff.

Much as it's a neat demonstration, having played it, I see why it was a freebie/demonstration. It's a pretty dull game, I thought.

@Cleesox: The starter content is definitely doable on your own, but much faster with a friend. Plus, you'll have more fun and be less vulnerable to random enemy players wandering by.
