The prices are set as 1/100,000 of what the actual price is, so a $30,000 car costs $0.30. There are lots of lower-priced car, but the higher-performance stuff is more expensive but less common. I was lucky to sign up under a promotion where they gave you $5 for signing up (during the daytona 24), but they do

It is a free to play game, but you have to buy the cars. You start with an evo, and racing gets you credits so you can buy more cars (or you can buy cars for around a dollar on average). Most races are free, but some do have an entry fee. It is possible to play with a keyboard or gamepad, but a wheel is much better.

If you have more pennies than patience, you can also buy most cars for around a dollar. You can race with a keyboard or gamepad, but as with any sim, a wheel is better. Even if

From the graph, the speed of sound actually decreases until around 11 km, so if he hit his top speed anywhere in those first 27 km then he was supersonic. From watching the stream, he hit top speed within at least the first 40 seconds so that seems very likely.

A quick look at wikipedia shows how the speed of sound varies with altitude. He jumped from ~38 km, I think, so at all of those altitudes the speed of sound is lower than at sea level.

This car seems to hark back to their Can-am days, especially the M20.

In fact, the whole colour scheme seems to echo the M20 in particular.

I recently read a book on Can-Am that explained why it seems that every MP4-12C is orange. It started when McLaren entered Can-Am with the M6A, and wanted to stand out from the crowd of other amazing Can-Am cars on american colour TV. The colour is apparently called "Papaya Orange", or McLaren Orange.
