@Beedazz & co.: All fantastic replies folks, thanks for the multi-layered bullet-points. This is why I love Kotaku!

I've been kinda dying to play this game, it sounds superb and brutally difficult. I'ma pick this up over christmastime and see if I can find the first entertaining FPS for me since Borderlands.

@davidfretwell: RDR was truly great. I haven't touched it in a while but lemme tell you I PLAYED that game for over a month. Like, PLAYED. Seriously. PLAYED it. A lot. Also it might have my favorite video game ending of all time. I really thoroughly enjoyed ME2 as well. Haven't gotten to LOS yet.

I know it's a last minute contender but AssCreedBroHood is exquisite. It's so good I'm seriously considering replaying it (fucked up the Desmond parts and I can't go back to do Subject 16 stuff, they really should've explained that better).

If anyone saw Zero Punct recently you'll know that they're all limbless wildlife caught in an epic and pointless war.

i...LOVE...SMB. seriously.

@Gazp: I like Gyo but I have to agree with you. This story really affects me every time I read it.

@The MSJ: For my money, the ghost story in the last Vault of Horror (Tomb of Horror? Something like that) tpb that Dark Horse put out a few years back. You know the one. The family living in Japan who hide a defected soldier.

@The MSJ: Junji Ito is my favorite mangaka even though most of his shit isn't translated...that particular story is freaky as all hell...

God this makes me want to go back and play Bayonetta again...

Tough sell CD Projekt...DRM-free is a refreshing decision, but loading a missile launcher with tech-lawyers? Talk about mixed messages...

@Lain01001: What does reshrink wrapping have to do with anything? who keeps bringing up shrink wrap?

@Lain01001: That's preposterous. Who compares the game industry to the car industry, that makes absolutely no sense! What are you talking about?

@Lain01001: Wow way the keep the convo going you guys. Just came home from work and saw the great comments.

K, so I been going back to Gameshit a little bit lately. I have to admit I've been warming up to Game Informer lately, one for the absolutely incredible cover art as of late (my girlfriend wants cleaner versions of these to hang up around the house) and two because I think the writing has stepped it up SLIGHTLY.

@Sofox: I approve this message for its simplicity and elegance.

@DocHobo: I haven't beaten it yet on either platform (i always sink 50+ hours into SMT games and end up bailing out of shame) but I think P3P is the IDEAL way to play this title. The streamlined system with less city-wandering is an absolute godsend.

Patapon was terrific, and I highly recommend What Did I Do To Deserve This? Although the mechanics of the game are a little mystifying the experience is so unusual and peculiar it will absorb you for at least the lion's share of the campaign.

Honestly this has got me psyched. I wholeheartedly loved Mass Effect 1, planet-crawling and all, but I think ME2 raised the bar with more action-oriented gameplay mechanics and this seems to follow suit. The one and only thing that dragged for me was the planet scanning, I used to fall asleep in the middle of it

From the weird-as-all-shit department...this is admittedly fascinating.
