So what they're saying is, I'm probably never getting a new Rock N' Roll Racing or Blackthorne either.

Yeah, it's a good game. The PSP really is a treasure trove for SRPG enthusiasts.

Nothing against the game specifically, I was just excluding it on account of it being a Strategy RPG, which wasn't really along the same lines as the other titles Cannibal was listing.

Glad to hear about someone else enjoying Hardcore Uprising. I'm always trying to get a conversation about it going, but no one seems to have liked it as much as me. Wait until you get to the highway stage. BRUTAL. AS. HELL.

Anything Wild Arms (except for 4, and XF on the PSP). It's a solid series with Zelda style tool-based puzzle solving while you explore, and traditional turn-based battle sequences for combat. The whole series takes place in a world inspired by old Western films. It's my favorite series. Some genuinely lovely story

I'd be waiting for a price drop regardless. The only games that I buy full-priced at launch these days are ones that will be rare due to limited manufacturing runs (Xenoblade, Gungnir, etc.). Short is fine with me though. Short games are the only ones I beat. I don't get much time to game these days. 6 hour-long

It's important to remember that Too Human wasn't made with the Unreal Engine. The project was originally started with the Unreal tech, but the system was abandoned because SK didn't believe that Unreal's toolset provided what they needed. TH was then scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up with an entirely in-house

I was not aware that there was Sleigh Bells in Lollipop Chainsaw. It does make perfect sense. Now my rampant desire for the game has increased 10 fold. Damn.

We got you the blackest, bleakest, most metal gift of all. NOTHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!

Thank you XSeed. For this, and many other beautiful titles.

I think Spector put it best in the quote above. It's dangerous for us to take an irresponsible approach to wholesale violence and unhealthy, undeveloped sexuality and make the mistake of labeling them as "mature" simply because these are things that "aren't for kids." That's not the same thing as truly mature.

I'm quite happy to live inside my own brightly colored happy bubble. I may play my fair share of violent games . . . but when it all boils down, the game I'm most excited for in the future is Ni No Kuni. And when I think back to the past, it's the titles with bright colors and quirky esthetics that have made me the

Oh wow, the original Herzog was on the MSX.

I never played Herzog either. I came into Genesis/MegaDrive gaming as an adult, long after the system had died. Most of my collection and experiences are composed of what I've been lucky enough to find online, or stumble upon in 2nd hand shops.

Oh yeah. Herzog Zwei is probably their most famous game. The quintessential proto-RTS. Of course, those of us in the know, recognize it as an updated version of the top-down levels from Thunder Force 2.

That's a good one!

Yeah, I only played VI briefly at a friend's house. It never came out in the West, and I can hardly afford 1/4 of the NTSC titles I want, so importing shmups is hard for me to justify these days. I remember not being super impressed. Technosoft had dissolved at that point, and the game is developed by a division

Hardcore Gaming 101 has a really nice writeup that outlines all the chapters of the "Trails in the Sky" series of the Legend of Heroes franchise.

All those layers of parallax scrolling gives me the tingles.

Thunder Force 3 was sooooooo good. That forest level music is so classic.
