So far most people I've shown it to have gotten pulled in regardless of the episode on TV. Heck, I got my Mom pulled into it just by her hearing my Grandmother and I discuss the latest episodes (My Grandmother lives in England, and all her friends get together and watch it whenever a new episode is on).
