Or on a snow-covered road. There are lots of times in the winter where even the human drivers are forced to pretty much determine the lanes by a combination of educated guesswork and mutual consent, since the painted lines are completely invisible under the snow.

There are laws against driving drunk or driving dangerously and offenders are prosecuted. There are not laws against a computer driving around dangerously and offenders are not prosecuted. This is the problem.

That at least involves consent by the user. I never consented to walking or driving around this half-assed AI tech.

God forbid a company approach such a massive shift with logic. Can you imagine!?

I heard a term recently, “toxic midwesterninity”. Basically it was a descriptive term for midwesterners tendency to make do with what they have instead of buying something new, sometimes to a fault. Not only did I find it to be a spot-on description of midwestern ethos, it perfectly explains these survey results.

That first gear is ridiculous.

Northeasterners are impatient? You have five seconds to take that back! And why does my car horn need replacing again? Those greedy $tealership folks had better hop to it for what they charge! Whaddya mean supply chain shortage?!? Last time it was replaced three years ago it was here in a day! /s

One common vein on almost all the answers: Discovery channel networks...

“Gas Monkey, more like Ass Monkey”

Really amazed at the “both-sides-ism” here.

It may have been technically about motorcycles, but American Chopper has to be at the top of the list. It was the progenitor of every one of the terrible, formulaic, faux-reality, artificial-deadline-y, overdramatized custom car shop shows that followed, from American Hot Rod all the way to Counting Cars and every

Eloping seems great. A big family wedding was important to my partner. I’m not wealthy, but grad school is paid off, I own a home, my 401k is fully funded and I’ve avoided cocaine and boat ownership so far.

The core issue isn’t competition, but rather the fact that his allocation is going to be reduced. So even if customers choose the plaintiff’s dealership over the new guy, Nissan isn’t going to let him buy enough inventory to sell to them.

Yet crude petroleum is Norway’s #1 export. I think the lesson here is don’t get high off your own supply.

Agreed. When you can get a 40mpg 4dr pickup, the case for a tiny econobox just isn’t there. Sure, a Spark is cheaper out the door than a Maverick hybrid, but the mileage isn’t, the resale isn’t, and the general practicality is gone.

People want affordable cars, the Ford Maverick proves it. Tiny city cars though, nobody wants. For the same price on the used market you could get a regular ol sedan or a perfectly normal crossover, instead of a tiny, look at how poor I am, compact city car. Me personally, I love the tiny, look at how poor I am ,

OK, hear me out, “overlanding” accessories on a Subaru Outback.

This has been true for decades. I’ve got an Explorer gauge cluster in my 97 Ranger (main reason was to have a tach), I put a Stinger GT2 cluster in my Stinger GT (larger and more advanced center screen), and I put a Mustang GT premium cluster in my “base” 2005 Mustang GT (gained more gauges and the ability to change

Light! Whether it’s a flashlight or worklight the secondary tool to whatever tool you are using is always light to see what you are doing. I’ve had simple projects that I couldn’t complete until I had light.

Pure unadulterated, unbridled rage.
