As I said on twitter - another girl’s coming-of-age story as told by an old man. I’m trying to think of a female character that Burton has created that I’ve liked and there isn’t much. Perhaps the Corpse Bride, but she was an adult and frankly served to be a foil to the men around her. So I don’t hold out much hope.

The only one of these that I don’t hate is the one that allows a LGBTQ+-hating therapist to not treat LGBTQ+ people. Am I the only one who finds it distracting when romantic pairs are described differently. “Young man” with a “young girl.” “Boy” with the “woman he loves.” It just gives me creepy age difference vibes.

I actually don’t want to cancel reboots because occasionally they are amazing (the new She-Ra on Netflix and the first 5 seasons or so of the MLP reboot come quickly to mind.)  Some ideas were good but not executed well the first time and actually improve with rebooting.  Some reboots are not better but just different…
