Another CoD is released, another day I weep and wonder how the hell people haven't gotten sick of it by now.

Eh, after their recent earnings they don't have the cash to do anything either.

...frankly, this could be the end of the publisher, which will be interesting. If the IPs go up for grabs there will be a HUGE rush of acquisitions on them...and I have a feeling they'll go into bad hands.

My point wasn't saying that they're mutually exclusive. There's certainly some overlap. My point was that it's a foolish mistake to claim that console gamers are getting up in droves and leaving for mobile games. That's what I hear a lot and that's what I have a hard time believing. The gaming industry cannot function

Frankly, I think a lot of the sudden unaffordability of AAA this gen was due to the recession. It's an artificial thing that, when it recedes, won't SOLVE the problem but will greatly reduce it.

Source on what, speficially?

The problem with developers comparing AAA game sales to casual/mobile game sales is that they're almost comparing apples to oranges as far as demographics go - they're too blinded by the success of cheap mobile titles to tell the difference, and don't realize that while the core gamer market is likely smaller on whole

Am I the only one who thinks these anime promo cakes must be loaded with all the preservatives on the planet in order to stay in a somewhat edible state, and that they probably don't taste very good at all?

Yeah, the Brutes were worse than Elites, but at least Halo 3 didn't shit all over the Halo universe with fanfiction-tier writing and horrible plot twists, unlike the 4th installment.

I say "toy" as a frivolous time waster

Just because something is interactive doesn't mean it's a toy.

You're part of the problem. Pre-defining the potential of a medium like this is what created the problems currently going on in the comics industry.

The reason I hate achievements in general is that it encourages the toy-like mentality of games that I want to get away from.

It's pretty much a Heart of Darkness rip-off, so for somebody like me who's a big fan of Apocalypse Now there's really not much there that hasn't already been done.

Indie games (and both excellent!), not AAA.

Cavia made Nier, Squeenix just published it (Cavia then was disbanded).

So, he headed the company as it was heading straight into the fire, eh? I bet he's filled with regret over the merger, but then again, at the time they didn't really have a choice.

[insert bantha poodoo joke here]

This is my here list. Keep in mind that I am rating the CAMPAIGNS of these games - I couldn't really care less about the multiplayer, seeing as how the only Halo game I played a ton online was 3 (and I haven't payed for XBL in ages).
