The PS4's architecture is completely different from PS3's, that's the big barrier to BC. Sony's cutting its losses and starting new with a console that's easier to code for. I'd suggest buying a PS3 on the cheap if you want to play the PS3 library.

The PS4's architecture is completely different from the PS3, that's the problem. Sony effed up by making the PS3 hard to code for with its cell processor, so now they're going with a more conventional design that's much easier to code for, but doing so cuts backwards compatibility in the process.

Sony's pretty much cutting its losses with the PS3's cell processor and moving on to a more conventional design that's easy to code for. The price to pay is backwards compatibility. It's definitely not a nice thing to hear, but it's a trade off. They could add it in, but not without driving up the system cost with the

It's a hardware issue. The PS4 is completely different from the PS3's architecture. There are workarounds, but not without making the system more expensive.

The architecture of the PS4 is completely different from the PS3. I wouldn't bet on BC. As for used games, Sony's said nothing of that so far besides patenting tech related to it. We'll see on the 20th.

I don't think his intent was to come off sympathetic, it seems more about pointing out their stupidity and following it up with their response (or rather non-response + trying to make him the bad guy).

Look at the bottom left hand corner of the page that the poll results are on (page 46 of the pdf). It says "Survey of 508 Republican primary voters".

I get what you're saying, but that wasn't what I was addressing.

Yeah, that patent makes me uncomfortable as well. Still, I haven't heard any other rumors about that tech being used on the PS4, and patents often go unused.

From what's been rumored so far, it doesn't look like the PS4 will block used games.

That is true.

Wii U and Vita fans should really think about shacking up together.

Welp...in that case...more Fire Emblem! I'd buy a Wii U for Fire Emblem.

It's the same situation with the Vita, memory card pricing aside.

Activision will always follow the biggest source of revenue. That's how they've gotten to the top spot. Besides their luck with CoD, granted...

Yeah, they've all moved on to facebook and smartphone/iOS games. It means less shovelware on the consoles, but...less game sales for consoles too =( a double-edged sword.

Indeed. But not a patch.

I think it may have something to do with From Software and Bandai Namco's relationship. At the time, they seemed to be very buddy buddy (or at least, Bamco seemed to REALLY want to be friends with From), and what with all the 'we are partners' talk they were throwing around, I had the impression they had, at minimum,

Atlus published Demons Souls, they did not develop it. Demons and Dark Souls are both developed by From Software.

Demons Souls was developed by From Software. Atlus was the publisher.
