Criticism is: "XIII's linear map structure took away any element of exploration", "The auto-battle option took away incentive for the player to manually enter combat commands", "Party leadership should have switched to another active party member if the leader dies, and not give a game over". "XIII is shit and anyone

Speak for yourself.

Quickenings (the mist attacks) work through chaining. You start off the chain with a quickening from any character, and while the cutscene for that quickening plays you press either triangle, square, or x depending on which one is available to select the next quickening in the chain. If none of the options are

Depends on which boss you're talking about. If you were facing *spoilers* the demon wall, your only hope is to run away from that and face its weaker brother on the other side. You can come back and kill it later when you're stronger.

For you it did.

It's weekend man, Kotaku doesn't usually run a lot of stories during this time. If they do then we get silly stories like this, which while not news can be pretty funny depending on the comments or how you interpret it.

I can understand that I suppose. I guess it's the same deal as Xenogears fans and Xenosaga.

Those comments are made by immature people who either haven't worked or don't know the value of making a living for themselves. AKA spoiled brats.

For many of them it's one game, with the other being a bastard abomination unworthy of sequel status (according to them - I personally am a huge fan of Cross).

I share your same mindset really. As a species of mammals humans are very cruel.

Most of the complainers (who completely missed the significance of this and are bashing Biden for....not outright saying 'HEY GUYS VIDJA GAMES ARE COOL KAY'? Yeah, that will convince EVERYONE...) seem to be teenagers, or that's what I believe at least.

You're using anecdotal evidence man. Not that I (or anyone here) is saying or agreeing that video games cause violence. However, video games have long been in a negative light, and it's time that the industry made a better image for themselves. Because whether we like it or not, the public has very broad

No one really does care about people outside their bubble. It's when bad things happen to them that they start asking 'why me?'.

Haha, I've used that phrase as well so we're in total agreement there :P

I have female friends who are every bit as nerdy as I am (and you), but I don't feel a spark with them - personally I think it's just better to live my life out in pursuit of my own happiness and not necessarily with someone else. And yeesh, that's some creepiness that guy's got going on.

That's actually really fascinating. I've only been to larger anime conventions. Never knew the culture was so different from smaller ones.

It seems this article struck a nerve with a lot of commenters. That's hilarious considering it's a humor piece telling everyone to get off their high horse and laugh a bit.

LOL. Whether or not you were being serious, that was entertaining to read and lightened my mood. :)

I wasn't defending the poster you replied to so much as I was defending people's right to say they like XIII without being told they aren't allowed to like it or express any non-negative opinions about it. I do understand where you're coming from though.

Like I said in a previous FF article, I wonder how Asia views Square-Enix and the FF series. If the attitude is positive, then it stands to reason that SE's target market is there and not here. Given the cultural differences between the US/EU and East Asia, it wouldn't be surprising.
