Well played, sir. I salute your memory bank.

What is Verlander's story? It only seems like 5mins ago he was unhittable and guaranteed to go at least 8 innings every start. Is he that old? Is his workload catching up with him?
How prescient that the Phillies scout was also right about the Wild Thing.
We are through the looking glass.
I would want to wish him the best ... even though I don't agree with his lifestyle.
All Colby Lewis mentions get a +1 from me from now on.
All of this is garbage. All of it.
"Woj is reporting ..."
This is a really solid point and something I've observed about the U.S., having lived here for six years. The U.S. simply doesn't have a national sports team that everybody unites around*; I honestly can't think of another country (especially a developed country) for whom that also applies. For most competitive soccer…
I really like Ian Darke (and McManaman) but that game was a clusterfuck from a commentary point-of-view. Darke was all over the map and I couldn't be sure if it was goals scored or goal differential that would be the tiebreaker and, as you say, he seemed clueless that Ghana was by far the more likely threat to the U.S.
Duty bound to provide a +1 for all Crowded House references.

Between the ambassador and Wilford Brimley I'm mourning the end of this show.
100%, dude is dull as shit, he'll put people to sleep.
This was outstanding Greg, well done, one of the best pieces I've read all year and I read a lot.
Appropriate that his trick shot in the Australian shirt involved a dumpster.
Hopefully the shitstorm will result in him finding something better.
Totally agree, a press conference for an issue this raw must have been weeks in the planning. I'd be surprised if they didn't go through a half-dozen run-throughs, as if it were some high school play in preparation for opening night. So we can assume that anything that came out of it was in the script. And that those…
It's one of the great mysteries in life to me, that a spectator at a MLB game doesn't end up in hospital at least once a week. Especially given that baseball fans (like this guy) are just as often doing something else as they are actually watching the game.
