One concern about a thing like that (and also the reason we see fewer playable gaming kiosks) is that they want to avoid parents dropping kids off into what is essentially a Free Babysitter while they do their shopping.

Lore-wise, the majority of people who have Pokemon aren’t competitive Trainers. The best of them are the ones we’re required to fight to progress the story.
FF7 was the one I grew up with (and the first game I beat on my own), but thought X was peak Final Fantasy. Creating an immersive Fantasy World while avoiding the too-easy of just making it a Medieval Fantasy-ish World.

Retail and Service is generally a miserable working experience if you’re on the front lines. Working at one that is of some interest to your interests like Gaming can make it somewhat less miserable.
