Gah, doubled posted somehow.

I was actually heartened by it not being FTP - when I heard there was an upfront cost, I figured the game quality and design would be a lot better. And for the most part, it is.
But yeah, they really should've fixed chat before release. Trion is normally on the ball with this sort of thing, which is especially weird.…
There's precisely one weapon type that will give you the ability for support - it's a gun that heals your buddies or drains life from enemies. Other than that, of the 4 activated abilities two of them are conceivably support-ish: one lets you run super fast, which is useful for getting to downed comrades, and the…
Yep, it's pretty obvious this was designed with consoles in mind. That said, I've really enjoyed it. Didn't run into any patcher problems or game crashing bugs (only seen two bugs that were ultimately meaningless - got warned about leaving a mission area after completing the mission). The weird thing is that everyone…
I picked it up yesterday (it went live a little early), and I'm having a blast with it. The key is to past the tutorial area (which sucks), and get to the areas you need a vehicle to travel in. You get one pretty early (maybe 45 minutes in) and then the game picks up really fast.
Your buddy could also get the 3DS version. Which can play with the Wii U version, if I remember right.

I've got it - and though the regions I started with friends a couple of days ago are still all hosed to some degree or another, the one we started today is actually working perfectly. We're going to keep playing in any event - if they're going to give us a (probably not very good) game in a week, so much the better.
You know, I'm actually enjoying it quiet a bit - playing on the hardest mode with 3 friends provides a decent challenge, and the game is a little unpolished but still considerable fun.
