As someone who blew a lot of money on bigger ships just so I could be sure I'd always have something bigger to screw around in with my friends, I have to admit that LTI probably isn't worth a whole lot. That said, I did buy those bigger ships because I'll have a kid by the time the game comes out, and I strongly

That's semi-deliberate. But the Serenity is a lot bigger - the Constellation (light freighter) or Merchantman class (somewhat bigger freighter) is probably a closer analog in terms of size.

I am not totally ashamed to admit I bought one. Or at least, I already had one - but I upgraded it to the ridiculous missile-carrying version. :)

I... mostly agree with you. That said, I've given Cloud Imperium Games a pretty ludicrous amount of money. As in, probably could have bought a decent computer for the amount I've pledged in-game.

Nowadays, I wouldn't throw that much money at it. But at the beginning of development, when no one was sure it would

So, there's one ship (The Bengal Class Carrier) so far that will be able to use over 50 people. The Idris is the next biggest (announced) ship, with a crew of around 10 or so. There's a Destroyer called the Javelin that will take more than that, but we don't know how many.

For the small, somewhat casually obtainable

The spaceships are designed to flown at a rate that is "fun", basically. The theory is that humans/gamers only have so much in the way of reaction times, so the ships can't go THAT fast or the game wouldn't be fun.

That said, the Hornet isn't particularly known for being a quick fighter, either. It's the navy-standard

So, one of the developers was saying that the Patch Server they were going to use actually went down right before the reveal, so they had to manually patch everything from a server in Boston with the 'latest' code- some of which was untested. Hence the crashes.

Actual DFM (what they planned to show) is way more

This. I've been hoping for even a DS-style 3d remake for a long time, and I don't think we'll ever get it. Square's realized they can make decent money off of AWFUL ports to Android/iPhone, so they'll never put up the money necessary to make their best RPG sing for another generation. :(

I likewise found that to be a big problem in the Beta - but I'm happily surprised by how much more I liked it in the late beta and the actual release. Much more fun, and the game in general is much more involving.

The Witcher 2 has quite a bit more weapons in it - lots of sword upgrades, etc. Still not anywhere near 'thousands', though. When I was playing, it actually made me value each new/better sword I got. Felt like it meant something, rather than just having a loot carousel and throwing away swords every 20 minutes, but I

Agreed - the first area in The Witcher is kind of a slog. None of the interesting politics or world-building occurs until Act 2. The Witcher 2, meanwhile, is pretty excellent from start to finish. The whole thing is amazing, now that they've added a tutorial to make the beginning a little easier.

Really? I've got both the PC and 360 versions, and The Witcher 2 is plays way, WAY better with mouse/keyboard for me. Maybe it's just me, but it felt much more precise to me.

Right. The 1st game isn't too buggy anymore, and I really loved the plot. That said, it's a bit of a slog due to the length of the game. But basically all you need to know before the 2nd game is that you have a couple friends (a dwarf, a bard, and a sorceress that you're probably in a relationship with), and that at

Between this and Fire Emblem, you're really missing out. I mean, even I hate you now for now owning a 3DS.

What, seriously? On the Monkey Ball engine? How was there not a AiAi easter egg in there somewhere?

Seriously. If I could get ahold of F-Zero X on the Wii U, I'd pay $20 for it. I was way too excited there.

I love Obsidian games - they release buggy games where the story and content is so fascinating that I just don't CARE about bugs, and that's fairly impressive coming from a professional QA guy.

Read Dan Simmon's 'Hyperion'. Then read the three sequels. Flat-out best sci-fi book I've ever read, and they get into some really interesting themes and questions without becoming ridiculous. The first book in particular has some very moving bits in it.

Forkbeard here, adding you when I get home. I too draw all over my WiiU space, but... terribly.

I'm 'Forkbeard' - amazing how that name wasn't taken yet. So far I've picked up NSMBU, NintendoLand, Scribblenauts, and Trine 2. ZombiU arrives today. So friend me if you'd like me to leave strange drawing of zombies everywhere in your ZombiU game. :P
