Yes.  You don’t need bar admission, or even a law degree, to serve as a Justice.

The GOP pretends everything is fine and confirms Kavanaugh.

:...the U.S. Senate (a grotesquely undemocratic body that gives the same amount of power to 600,000 citizens of Wyoming that it gives to 40 million citizens of California...”

Someone else happens to be a squeaky clean woman, who is more of a conservative than kavanaugh.

Yeah I know he’s trashed all religions but he’s extra scornful towards Islam.

My first thought was these are batshit crazy and never going to happen. Some of them aren’t THAT farfetched though. Now, abolishing the electoral college is not going to happen, and ending gerrymandering is not going to happen. In order for those to happen, you would need to see the legitimacy of the presidency and

I have an addition to the List:

The sad thing is.....a LOT of the rural working poor ain’t mad at Trump.  They LOVE him.  He’s going to hype the “autoworkers and dairy farmers” aspect of this trade deal and ride it to a second term.  And those that are aware of how the vast majority of Trump’s efforts have assisted the 1% and no one else....well,

They know he is temporary, they will pretend to respect him to mitigate damage and then when he is gone start over again, or return to the previous “normal”.     It’s like when your kid becomes a teenager, eventually they’ll return to normal but in the meantime it is hell.

It also assumes away politics, because the structural reforms he’s suggesting are designed to benefit the left-of-center. You know who would oppose it? The entire right-of-center. They’re nice aspirations, but they won’t happen unfortunately.

What I don’t understand is why so many world leaders are kowtowing to Trump. It boggles my mind. They laugh at him, as they should. But then they’re like, “well, fuck it, we’ll enter this trade agreement where we get fucked”.

This would require constitutional amendments. You’d also need to pass them very quickly before lobbyists, etc. could derail that process.  So, it essentially means you’re asking for a revolution.

“Religulous” was all about trashing Christianity, though! He didn’t address Islam very often in that. Did you not see it?

My only real problem with this is that you are putting ‘the will of the people’ on a pedestal. I really think that’s how we got here. The Founding Fathers were scared of the will of the people. They thought that the people certainly needed the bulk of the say, but that in the end they were fickle and ignorant and

Any atheist who isn’t threatened by cultural relativism will naturally come down harder on Islam than on other religions.

So I assume you’re referring to what he’s said about Muslims in the past.

I mean, Trump maybe deserves credit for not wrecking the economy like some thought he would immediately. The tax cuts have led to gains for stockholders so....hooray? I believe wage growth is starting to tick up after having stagnated despite the recovery, but that probably has more to do with the fact that the

We’ve always been an insular nation of assholes. Trump has just given the worst among us a platform and a megaphone.

Bill Maher is an establishment Democrat and a free speech fundamentalist who genuinely believes that even the most lunatic wacko deserves to be heard. On the other hand, it’s been forever since he’s had a genuine leftist (think Greenwald, Scahill, Chomsky) on the show.

First of all, Axios has been all in for Trump from the get-go.
