I find it fascinating that Hamilton Nolan, of all people, could write that paragraph without a hint of self-awareness.

It was what, the Clinton Administration that initially removed the safety rails right? Then the Bush Administration had the ability to claim economic growth from this. That gives us maybe... 6 years I’d say before it actually all comes crashing down maybe? At least that’s probably what Trump’s posse is banking on.

The result of getting a 2nd one may very be more than half of someone’s stuff lol. Legit expensive dolls.

You know, as loth as I am to give this administration credit, I wonder if he’s not wrong about the comming collapse. Its on an unsustainable course without any breaks and the idiots are removing the safety guardrails as fast as they can. So I suspect that their “the dems will doom us all” rant is both a warning to

I was expecting actual antisemitism here, not antisemitism by technicality.

huh wild that a “currency” with super high transaction costs that doesn’t actually solve any of the issues with our present monetary system didn’t become more popular

It’s because after you get elected, you’ve gotta start delivering— and that’s when you start lying and/or making excuses for why you can’t really DO the thing that you campaigned on, at least you can’t do it right now, not right away, and then your voters feel betrayed. Nothing paradoxical about it, really. Just

Ooh, and just wait until the first time she’s caught publicly agreeing with Nancy Pelosi. The effigies will start burrrnin’!

Yeah, I’m anticipating the first “Fuck that sellout AOC” piece once she actually gets into Congress and votes on some shitty measure that gives billions of dollars to some defense contract grifter in exchange for not installing internment camps that passes 433-2.

It’s not a paradox. People have a fundamentally conservative perspective as it relates to the power and authority they allow others to have over them, and it’s really easy to get people to mistrust whoever is in power, especially when practical realities of governing are thrown into the mix.

Even before they get elected. Leftist Tumblr loved Alexandria Cortez until she won the nomination then they started calling her an imperialist. They loved Chelsea Manning until she got into electoral politics then they called her a CIA pysop.

Once you’re elected you have a job to do. You have to find a way to make shit actually work while actually at the same time making people happy. Oh, the transportation committee? Find a way to pay for roads. Don’t raise taxes now. But all those roads. If you don’t fund construction people gonna be pissed. And it’s

Ideas are also more attractive when they’re just a counter-narrative rather than something that needs specifics. You can see that in how advocates for “democratic socialism,” abolishing prisons,” “abolishing law enforcement,” and “abolishing ICE” refuse to define those terms beyond what they aren’t and accuse you of

But did you make that clear enough in the article?

I feel like this is a pretty obvious demonstration of basic human emotions? Nebulous hopes for the future are always more popular than current reality. An unopened present is way more exciting than whatever’s in the box. Candidates are always more popular than politicians.

It’s straight from the comics...

No shit. It’s like pining after that cute girl at the coffee shop. The idea of who they could be will never live up to the reality of who they actually are.

Spider-Man’s portrayal of policing feels divorced from reality

DisneyQuest was awesome in theory but maaan did they underestimate how much effort keeping it fresh would be. My last time there was 2005 and everything felt outdated then; I can’t imagine that improved any. Definitely a lesson learned.

Gonna watch this channel later tonight. Though, I miss Disney Quest. I think it was salvageable but needed some major upgrading for some of the bigger attractions there.
