Seconded. A couple months back (ish) I got an email for a one day only $2 tank top sale. I spent $65 and got 5 tank tops (the max allowed), a sports bra, a pair of leggings, and 3 sundresses.

Dolly Parton fills the world with love and joy just by *existing* and on top of that, there’s the music. I feel like if I ever find out anything bad about her, like that she’s actually a virulent racist or a serial killer, that would end my ability to trust other humans.

actually, in many red states, mostly the state! Tax dollars, usually reappropriated from actual women’s health services.

I hear you, but I think you probably understand why we can get really touchy on the subject. It takes so much energy to just *hold the line* and even so, we are constantly slipping backwards. It’s the death of a thousand little cuts. Even though I am open to stories of women that regret their abortion, and want to

I’m so sorry you are going through that. <3 <3 <3

See, I’d be fine with that, but I have a question: do they call themselves a “crisis pregnancy center” and get state funds as such? My guess would be no, but I could be wrong. You described it as a “free medical center” which sounds like something different, and I don’t have an issue with a clinic that offers

That is one of the more fucked up things I have ever heard or seen or read about, and you need to keep in mind that I spend many, many evenings watching horror movies from the 1960s-1980s. Like this seems like something the mom/aunt from Sleepaway Camp would do for Easter.

I have two children. Each pregnancy, each birth, each time one of them learned to crawl or walk or talk - all life-changing events. I chose them, and I’m glad I did, but to think you can make that choice for someone else is so incredibly cruel.

Yes! Like, hell, yeah, life-changing in that it often gives someone a chance to change their life, a chance that they may lose if they have a baby.

The don’t operate under the radar. Most of them receive state funds. Red states like mine increase their funding every session, usually stealing the funds directly from real women’s health programs.

I feel like we should picket these places like they do clinics, but there are so goddamn many of them. Find a way to post signs they can’t remove? Saying things like “This place exists solely to discourage you from abortion and provides false, discredited ‘medical’ information”.

See, I haven’t seen it yet, but I think it DOES sound like an interesting character arc. If the author is summarizing the plot accurately, then I agree that Stark is being a dick, I just don’t see that as a flaw in the story, necessarily. It makes a lot of sense in context of his background and experience, so I’ll be

You are correct. Girls in my son’s elementary school wear spaghetti straps and don’t get in trouble, though the dress code does forbid them.

If they’re old enough to ask, they’re old enough to know, basically.

Yes, so much!

I have worked with kids my whole life, and this is the best advice I can give: point stuff out. Point stuff out all the time. Keep it age approriate, but point out instances in say, books or tv where someone is pushing or crossing boundaries, and make it clear that that person is the problem. Point out good behavior

Yeah, after I clicked on your handle I realized you were probably not serious. So many people are though, when they say these things. Not like they think it is a realistic plan, but their easy dismissal of us is real, and harmful, and I am admittedly a bit touchy about it lately. Things are going extra badly this

ETA: I like most of your posts and don’t want to single you out. I’ve fallen into this frame of mind before, and I do get it. But it’s so frustrating to those if us working for change. My family and my friends and my community are all here and worth fighting for. So this rant is directed more at a prevalent attitude

Ok. Thinking this through, I see an app like that as a weapon against women. I see wasted women having a phone shoved in front of them "touch this button" "Um, OK". I see women who touch buttons on the app to indicate consent, and then when fooling around takes a turn she doesn't like, and she withdraws that consent,
