Oh, yeah! Remember that bit where they talk about how the Lost Boys each have to go through their own hole (I think they each have their own) to get into the tree, and if the boy doesn't fit into the hole, Peter "does something" to them to make them fit? I loved that part for its vaguely sinister tones.

You are completely right there. I think Terry Pratchett, in one of his books, has a bit about how adults have sanitized fairy tales, saying it's for the children, but it's really because it makes the adults uncomfortable, while the children remain bloodthirsty creatures.

In my neighborhood there is a house that has a year-round displays of violence against toys. For a while it was a giant (I mean, like, 12 feet tall) spike with a big teddy bear head on it. Then they set up a guillotine and beheaded a bunch of toys. Currently there is a life-sized figure skewered on the big spike, and

I like to imagine Senators Warren and Booker enjoying lunch and exchanging ideas in the congressional caf.

Wow. Your inability to process my rhetoric does not make it a word salad. Your choice of words is insulting, but I think you know that.

" You can give people advice on how to avoid becoming a victim, without blaming the victims themselves and without removing any blame from the perp."

I made that exact same comparison in my (still gray, sadly) comment. Like, sure, tell kids abstinence is the only 100% way to not get pregnant. Then teach them about condoms. Sure, tell college kids (not just women) about the dangers of binge drinking. Then teach them about consent, bystander intervention, then some

Apparently Garvakill thinks I am pro-blackout drinking. Everyone should do it regularly!

Obviously that's best for everyone. Not just girls. Duh.

It's just like abstinence only sex ed. Sex can lead to pregnancy and other consequences. Well, teens are going to have sex. So it doesn't help anyone to go: But they shouldn't. They will. So teach them about condoms and birth control.

I know how. I just really suck at it. Like, on someone else's head, I have about a 65% success rate, and on my head. . . I swear I've done it before but can't get it to come out well. I recently thought I could learn how to do the fishtail braid after watching a youtube video. It didn't look that hard! Turns out I

He seems to actually understand what he did wrong, which give a lot more weight to his assertion that he is going to continue to try to learn from this. He's young, I have changed a lot of my attitudes since I was that age, and given what he said in the apology, I think he will too probably.

I. . . actually believe this apology. I find myself actually a bit moved.

You sum that up very well. I was trying to find a way to get that concept in there, but couldn't quite find the words.

I don't know why in general, necessarily, other people are. I know that I have complicated feelings about say, the rape scene in this episode. It was so horrible and triggering and I could barely watch and wanted to throw up. On the other hand, I kind of . . . appreciate that, almost. Like, there is no way this is

I'm genuinely delighted that the alumni are having that conversation. That is really heartening. Thanks for posting.

Of course they gotta work "bitches be crazy" into this. It's like they can't have a single issue without seasoning it with sexism.

These are great ideas!

And now I have the bobbing along song stuck in my head. AGAIN. Took me like, 2 weeks to end that last time.

I wish I could star this twice.
