Because the logic that you’re using is the same logic that people use to extrapolate their own experience to justify xenophobia, racism, misogyny, et al.

Learning how to choose your battles is the first step towards wisdom, I think. It’s definitely something I’ve struggled with (which would be why I had a convo with my therapist about it lol).

It’s surreal being told to “let the [author] do her” immediately after being offered a (suspiciously specific) critique of other women’s habits. There’s a lot of circular thinking going on.

I didn’t say any of those things about my sister, although it sounds like you have some sort of feelings about yours.

Why though? My sister was like that, now she’s with a good guy and pregnant with a boy that she’s already gone to great lengths to raise in an overtly feminist manner before he’s even been born.

She literally said you can’t call yourself a feminist unless your every move and breath is informed by radical feminism. It’s possible that she contradicted herself in the midst of all the self-congratulation, I missed the parts where my eyeballs were pointing up.

My therapist once told me that everything I did didn’t have to be for the cause. She was a smart woman and all of her advice served me well, so I’m gonna go with her on that one.

For all of her railing against cities she sure seems to think they’re representative.

I can’t imagine she’s going to feel this way for long; it’s an exhausting worldview. There was so much out there stuff in there, like she doesn’t trust women with male partners? Um... ok? Congrats, girl, you’re the most feminist of them all. Enjoy it.
