Can't we actually just abort Christmas since all it did was hijack the Solstice anyway?

"A little thing that can turn into anything at anytime."
Nicole, I agree wholeheartedly. The R-word is whipped out a little too quickly these days. Also, if anything, cultural appropriation is stereotyping, and not racism. Conflating the two does no one any favours.
This was a really calm, well-thought-out response to something like this. It's very commendable. It's pretty easy to see a visual and get angry about it for a variety of reasons, but it's not as easy to take a step back and think a lot about what racism/cultural appropriation is. Very good reply.
Sometimes I wonder if we are blowing things out of proportion so much that we no longer can understand proportionality. I thought Feministing did that with the whole Lorde's song being racist. And I think this approaches it, too.
Can we have a calm, rational discussion about cultural appropriation, where the lines…
It falls under parody. Weird Al doesn't have to get permission to make his parody songs, because no one would confuse them for the original song. It is the same as in this case. No one is going to confuse it for the original.
Yep, they're essentially choosing their privilege.
This, then, is a measure of one's commitment to equality as opposed to their merely wishing things could be different.
Not rushing a sorority should not be "a huge burden to put on 19-year-old girls" if said 19-year-old women have the upstanding moral character to recognize that the family legacy they're clinging to is full of racist bullshit. the OC baby!). Was wearing thin peach top with black bra underneath,
and short black 80s skirt that had those 3 ruffles tiered down it. Was
blonde. Was very blonde due to Sun-In. Was tan.…
“I didn’t abuse her every day.”
Ew ignore them. Everyone I worked with (lab of all women) at one point went and got them. IT'S AMAZING.
I was thinking this, but about IUD access. They are being recommended way more now than a decade ago, even to younger women. And that thing is a steel trap for sperm. Shit is magical.
Uh just to be clear, when was twerking made synonymous with anal sex?
No. You are confused about the meaning of that sentence.
Also, please. Can we stop with the ally bashing?
The song starts with the lyrics "When I was in the third grade I thought that I was gay" and goes on to tell his story and perception of "gayness". So I don't think Macklemore was attempting to make a "gay anthem" or speak for the LGBT community. The fact that the song became a hit and resonated with people speaks to…
Despising Rhianna makes me feel like a bad feminist but I really, really do.
