3 1/2 more hours until I can eat all the things!

@lucysnowe: For serious. Best $1.50 I spend every fall.

I keep two shades of foundation/tinted moisturizer going for the transition from summer tan to winter pale. Sometimes I even mix them if I'm truly in-between.

@Heart O'Darkness: I'm in the middle of something similar. If you let it pass, it just might. Sometimes we have to weather storms with the people we love most. Not to say that your feelings in all of this aren't valid, just that it may not be final - even if it feels that way right now.

@BytheSea: I think that's also an interesting perspective, I hadn't thought of it that way. I do know some western women who choose to cover (just like non-western women) so I guess I never thought about what it might take for me to make that choice while in the west (I did cover while traveling and had mixed

@armadillo: I encountered this traveling in the middle east. I realized that I think that ultimately white westerners are so distressed by the veil because it undermines their privilege. The idea is that women must be oppressed because I, progressive western person, cannot gaze on them as I see fit. My impression

@Chryss: I also just need to learn more humility. There is only so much I can do for the people that I love and my love isn't measured by what I do or how much I can withstand.

@Chryss: for believing that I can do more than I am meant to.

@knightgee: Those po-mo-homos are insufferable!

@colorisnteverything: Thanks! Do you just take it straight or is there a formulation that you would recommend? My face skin is highly reactive to everything ever and I'm always on the lookout for a panacea.

@soursequence: Whatever you do, keep your face out of it. True story.

I tried a new face lotion last week and my skin freaked out. Burny, teeny bumps across the lower right quadrant. It looks mostly ok but it's definitely not the same. I was trying to just keep in clean and keep my hands off of it but so far nothing so I tried real aloe and now I'm slathered in .05% hydrocortisone.

@SomeAuthorGirl: No, I agree with you. My Grand Gesture was wholly self-serving and gave only me satisfaction. It didn't do anything for anyone else, it just made me feel better about myself (which we can all agree is the wrong reason). But it worked.

@SomeAuthorGirl: Not true! I apologized to my ex-bf's parents for being generally insufferable on Rosh Hashanah. What could they do but accept my apology and forevermore lament the demise of our relationship (after they spent many years hating me, mostly for not being Jewish enough). I suspect it only worked

I am out of town for 10 days and have started exchanging many emails with an okc boy. I suspect that this is a Bad Idea as I prefer to just meet before building up Expectations. But I'm not very invested in this so if it sputters out, oh well. Right? Right?!?

@Jellybish: Gross, man. And in front of your academic adviser too. I'm embarassed for him and I hate that feeling.

@withoutabaedeker: Yuck indeed. I have a US phone with a special calling plan that lets me call Canadian numbers for cheap since I have family in the frozen north. But if I use it while I'm in Canadia, it costs just as much. Plus roaming charges.

@withoutabaedeker: Yes. Your phone is Canadian unless you sign up for some international roaming service that will cost extra.

@withoutabaedeker: Yes. You're phone is Canadian unless you sign up for some international roaming service that will cost extra.

@fridaphile is tequila's momma: Have the most very best time in Egypt. I was there last summer and just adored it. I forget what it's called but there is a dessert that is sort of like a milky bread pudding and I cannot recommend it enough, even when it is 110 degrees out.
